4 Reminders for Your Guest Experience During the Wedding Ceremony

Whether you exchange personal vows, choose a friend to officiate your wedding ceremony, or have your dog walk down the aisle with you, there are many moving parts to a wedding ceremony that can take it from good to great.

You want your wedding ceremony to be remembered for all the right reasons: it is sweet, funny, tearful, and so on. You don't want it to be remembered for being too long, too short, or awkward for your guests.

Here are 4 reminders for your wedding ceremony that we recommend keeping in mind for your day:

  1. Audio is king. Being a guest at a wedding but not being able to hear what is happening during the ceremony is a major buzz kill. Keep in mind the elements around you. Maybe it is wind or water, be sure your DJ or person in charge of audio has every guest covered to hear what is happening at the altar.

  2. Shade or fans make for happy guests. If you are getting married in direct sun it's important to provide shade, umbrellas, or hand fans as a way to keep your guests cool.

  3. Show your guests you are thinking of them. Speaking of keeping guests cool, consider passing champagne or a signature welcome drink; it makes such a positive impact on your guests' experience the moment they arrive at your wedding. If you want to make sure everyone is still upright at the end of the night, you can always opt for a non-alcoholic welcome beverage like lavender lemonade or peach tea to keep the drinks fun and on par for your wedding but not get the party started off too strong.

  4. Communication is key. Do you want your guests to keep their phones away? Are you hoping everyone throws rose petals when you walk down the aisle? You have to be sure your officiant is aware to make those announcements BEFORE you come down the aisle. No guest wants to feel like they are lost so be sure to communicate with them.
